  • Public Notice: Good Friday and Easter Monday

    The Municipal office will be closed on Friday, April 18, 2025, for Good Friday, and Monday, April 21, 2025, for Easter Monday. The office will re-open on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. with normal business hours. 

     

  • Public Information Notice: Election Canada electoral district 

    Please be advised that the Township of North Kawartha is now part of the Haliburton–Kawartha Lakes federal electoral district. 

    The general election will take place on Monday, April 28, 2025, with advance voting occurring from Friday, April 18 to Monday, April 21, 2025.

    • Please do not place your brush on the roadside. You are responsible for disposing of your brush at the locations below.

    • Do not pile debris on municipal roadways or ditches

    • Roads crews are chipping Township debris only in front of residences

    The Anstruther and Haultain Transfer Stations are accepting brush (no stumps) from the storm.  Debris is accepted free of charge and debris over 6” in diameter needs to be separated.

    The following road disruptions are in effect Monday, April 7, 2025 at 3:00 p.m.

    • FR 16 is closed beyond civic address number 24 due to a low hanging Bell line
    • Restricted access to FR 10 due to low hanging Bell line

  • Flooding Resources

    Due to the heavy rainfall on the 2nd and 3rd of April combined with the ongoing snowmelt of the remaining snowpack water levels and flows are rising at a rate which will cause flooding.  

    Sand and Sand bags are available to the public just inside the sand dome located at the The Township of North Kawartha Roads Garage 10230 Highway 28. Bring a shovel.

    If flooding is imminent and there is threat to person or property call 9-1-1

  • Jack Lake Road Closure Update - Open 1 lane

    April 4, 2025 Jack Lake Road, north of Shady Lane Road - 1 Lane Open
    A portion of Jack Lake Road, north of Shady Lane located in the Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen was washed out due to water overflow on April 3 and is now open to 1 lane of traffic.  This portion is just north of Shady Lane.

    The Municipal Office, at 280 Burleigh Street, Apsley, will remain closed on Friday, April 4, 2025, due to ongoing service disruptions resulting from limited internet and phone communications. Municipal business will continue with Municipal staff and Council being available to the public at 705-656-4445 or direct lines or emails by using our Contact Us directory on the website or reception@northkawartha.ca or firstname.lastname@northkawartha.ca

    Power outages persist across many areas. Residents are urged to stay away (10 metres) from downed power lines even if they do not appear to be live. Report power line damage to Hydro One at 1-800-434-1235.
