North Kawartha is excited to welcome Darryl Tighe, M.Sc., RPP as the new Manager of Planning for the Township. Darryl will be responsible for the processing and staff recommendations on all planning and development applications, short-term planning, implementation of long-term planning policies and any other matters related to the comprehensive and orderly land-use development in North Kawartha Township.

North Kawartha is excited to welcome Emily Fitzgerald as the new Junior Planner for the Township. Emily will work with residents to determine if they require planning relief, process planning applications, and provide input on many aspects of planning within the Township.

Starting Tuesday, June 11, 2024, Drain Brothers Excavating, in partnership with the Township of North Kawartha, will begin ditch maintenance and culvert replacements on Dunford Road in preparation for the road resurfacing project scheduled for later this summer.

Please be aware of turtles crossing roads through North Kawartha, especially during warmer months. Your safety and the safety of other drivers is top priority. If you see a turtle on the road, please do not stop your car in the middle of the road or walk into direct traffic.

Please be advised that Bellai Alliance Civil Inc. will be conducting reconstruction works along the Highway 28 Right-of-Way at the Eels Creek Bridge located at the Eels Creek Rest Area (approx. 13.3km North of Burleigh Falls). Work is scheduled to begin on June 3, 2024, and conclude in August 2025.

Throughout the months of June, July, and August of 2024, the Township of North Kawartha Building Department will be mailing letters to property owners who have outstanding building permits that are 2 years old or older.

The Government of Ontario, in partnership with the Township of North Kawartha, is introducing a new ServiceOntario mobile service centre. The new mobile service centre will provide in-person access to government services within The Township of North Kawartha.
