Speak at an upcoming Council or Committee Meeting

North Kawartha Council welcomes and encourages presentations and deputations to Council.

Persons or groups wishing to speak to Council or Committee(s) must provide a written request to the Deputy Clerk no later than 4:30 p.m. five business days prior to the Council meeting. Your request must clearly identify the reason(s) you wish to speak to Council or Committee(s) and include the name(s) of those who will be speaking. You may use this Request Form for convenience.  Staff will contact you to arrange a meeting date and time.

Please Note:  Once you complete and submit the online Presentation/Delegation/Deputation Request Form your request will be automatically forwarded to our Deputy Clerk.  The Deputy Clerk will respond to your request.

Persons are limited to a maximum of ten (10) minutes speaking time. If there is more than one person, all persons combined will be limited to two (2) speakers and a maximum of fifteen (15) minutes speaking time.

The Clerk in consultation with the Mayor and Chief Administrative Officer may defer a delegation to a subsequent meeting for scheduling purposes.  A Deputation may be refused when the subject matter is a matter of litigation or is beyond the jurisdiction of the Township of North Kawartha.

Please be informed that your written request to Council or Committee(s) along with any documents or presentation material you provide may be posted on the Township website and/or displayed during the meeting. Meetings are audio / video recorded and posted on the Township Youtube Channel for public viewing.

Agendas are posted on the Township website prior to the meeting. Persons wishing to speak to Council about an item listed on the Agenda may notify the Deputy Clerk no later than 1:00 p.m. on the day before the meeting. Persons not scheduled on the Agenda will need the permission of Council to speak.

By-Law 2023-0075 being a by-law to govern the proceedings of the Council and Committees of the Township of North Kawartha and to repeal By-Law 2022-0016 and any previous procedure by-laws.  Please refer to the by-law for further information or contact the Clerk at 705-656-4445 (ext. 234).

Public meetings held in the Council Chambers are audio and video recorded and made available on the Township YouTube channel conditional upon any technical difficulties that may be encountered. Meeting minutes remain the official, permanent record of all meetings.    

Transcripts of the meetings are not available.  Audio / video files on the internet are part of the public realm and may be subject to alteration.  The Township assumes no liability associated with any alterations made by members of the public on the internet.
