Council Meeting Information
Meeting of Council and Committees
Hybrid Meetings were implemented on January 31, 2023. North Kawartha Procedure By-Law 2023-0075 was adopted on November 7, 2023 and continues to allow for electronic participation in meetings as permitted in Section 238 of the Municipal Act, 2001. By utilizing technology we are able to allow attendees and/or members of council or committees and staff to join electronically, by phone, or in person. This meeting format eliminates the need for travel to attend a meeting for those wishing to attend from out of town or in inclement weather while still being "present" in the live meeting.
If a member of the public is interested in joining a Council meeting to listen and observe, please use the Zoom Invitation link available on the Council Agenda. Statutory public hearings during a Council meeting provide an opportunity for the public to express their views on certain matters to Council both in person during a meeting, or in writing beforehand. For items not included in a statutory public hearing, members of the public are encouraged to communicate their views with Council by forwarding any comments regarding an agenda item in writing via email to the Clerk prior to a Council meeting. Anyone who speaks publicly at a Council meeting may have their name and any opinions expressed recorded electronically and noted in the meeting minutes.
Regular and Special Meetings of Council are posted on the Township YouTube channel as soon as possible after the meeting for public viewing. Local Board and Committee Meetings may or may not be audio and video recorded depending on the location of the meeting and equipment available.
To appear as a delegate before Council or Committee please contact the Deputy Clerk. Please view our Speak at an upcoming Council meeting page for more information on deputations/delegations to counci and/or committees..
Regular Council meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month beginning at 9:30 a.m. Subscribe to our website to stay informed of changes in meeting times, locations or cancellations. Special meetings may be called at any time with proper notice.
Meetings are held in the Council Chambers at 280 Burleigh St. in Apsley, ON.
