Capital Program and Projects
Capital budgeting plans for the purchase or financing of assets, or improvement of existing infrastructure such as building and upgrading our municipal buildings, roads, and equipment. The capital programs and projects listed below are funded by grants including the Ontario Municipal Partnership Funding (OMPF), the Canada Community Building Fund (Gas Tax), and the annual Ontario Community Infrastructure Funding (OCIF).
Some capital projects for 2024 include:
A paging system for the fire department, the replacement of 3 township vehicles/equipment, replacement of server backup, branding, improved network infrastructure at township facilities, WPCC playground equipment, Chandos Beach safety equipment, Mt. Julian-Viamede Wharf animal proof bin, the Riverview Park Rejuvenation Project, the FoodCycler program, surveys/inspections, culvert replacement and resurfacing road treatments. 2024 capital projects also include facility improvements such as roof replacement/additions/renovations at the NKCC, and building additions/repairs at various township facilities such as NKCC facility equipment improvements, Health Centre and 135 Burleigh St renovations, cameras and the Municipal Office, etc. For more information on the programs and projects above and to see the full list of 2024 capital projects please visit our Budget page.
The majority of the capital projects are funded by annual grant funding. The projects/items below are funded by one-time grants:
- Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP) for partial funding for the Health Centre Renovations project
- 2019 Modernization Efficiency funding
