Public Notice: Good Friday and Easter Monday Schedule

Friday, April 18 and Monday, April 21, 2025

The Municipal office will be closed on Friday, April 18, 2025, for Good Friday, and Monday, April 21, 2025, for Easter Monday. The office will re-open on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. with normal business hours.

Parks & Recreation 

The North Kawartha Community and Fitness Centre will be open with weekend hours from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 18, 2025, and closed for Monday, April 21, 2025, for Easter Monday.

Garbage & Recycling 

The Haultain and Anstruther Transfer Stations will open with normal business hours on Friday, April 18, 2025, and open with Sunday hours from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Monday, April 21, 2025, per the winter schedule.

Curbside Garbage and Recycling collection will operate as normal on Monday, April 21, 2025.  Please have your material out at the curbside by 7:00 am.

For missed curbside garbage collection, please call Waste Connections at 705-742-4268 and for missed recycling collection, please call Emterra at 1-888-597-1541.

Sand and Sand bags are available to the public just inside the sand dome located at the The Township of North Kawartha Roads Garage 10230 Highway 28. Bring a shovel!

Public Notice: Reduced Load Restrictions in Effect Starting March 10, 2025

Starting March 10, 2025, reduced load restrictions will be in effect for all Township of North Kawartha roads.

Reduced load restrictions are applied each spring during the thaw when the road network is most vulnerable to help prevent permanent damages to pavement and surface treated roads.

While in the reduced load restrictions are in place, vehicles are restricted to load limits of 5 tonnes per axle.

Public Information Notice: Election Canada electoral district

April 08, 2025

Please be advised that the Township of North Kawartha is now part of the Haliburton–Kawartha Lakes federal electoral district. This district includes:

  • The City of Kawartha Lakes
  • The Municipalities of Dysart et al and Highlands East
  • The Municipality of Trent Lakes (excluding the islands of the Curve Lake Indian Reserve No. 35A)
  • The Townships of Algonquin Highlands, Cavan Monaghan, North Kawartha, and Minden Hills

The general election will take place on Monday, April 28, 2025, with advance voting occurring from Friday, April 18 to Monday, April 21, 2025.
