2024 Building Permit Annual Fee Notice
Attention North Kawartha Residents
Throughout the months of June, July, and August of 2024, the Township of North Kawartha Building Department will be mailing letters to property owners who have outstanding building permits that are 2 years old or older.
Per North Kawartha Building By-law #2022-0005, passed on January 18, 2022, a annual fee of $150.00 will be applied to building permits that have been open for 2-years or longer. Additionally, requests for inspections on building permits older than 10 years from the current date will be subject to a $150.00 fee per inspection.
Non-payment of the $150.00 annual fee by October 31, 2024, will result in the fee being added to your property taxes pursuant to Section 398 of the Municipal Act, 2001. Unpaid annual fees once applied to your property taxes will accrue interest and be invoiced similarly to overdue property taxes.

Building permit annual fee(s) can be paid by cash, debit, cheque payable to the Township of North Kawartha. Credit card payment can be received through Paymentus, at the following link: https://ipn.paymentus.com/rotp/nkon. If paying through Paymentus, please ensure to select “Building” and to include the property roll number that the payment is to be applied upon.
Please contact the Township of North Kawartha Building Department at the earliest convenience to arrange the required inspections to ensure that all work conforms to the requirements of the Ontario Building Code and satisfies all requirements of the outstanding building permit.
